Stoke Wines is the label of Nick and Bec Dugmore, who swapped a surf road trip for a life on Kangaroo Island in 2008 and never left. Farming organically without formal certification and testing every wine for glyphosate, they focus on lighter, food-friendly styles true to the island’s cool maritime climate.

Handpicked and whole-bunch pressed from the Cassini Vineyard, where a tough, early-flowering spring cut yield right back to just 1.3 tonnes from a block that usually gives 4–5. Half the juice was wild-fermented in barrel for two weeks before blending back with the tank-fermented portion. Pear, white peach and citrus zest, with a textural, slightly savoury edge.

Lovely with fresh pasta, a light seafood dish or on its own on a warm afternoon.

Why we love it:
A low-yield, high-character Pinot Gris. Proof a tough season in the vineyard can still make a beautiful wine.
