Red cherry. Forest floor. Iron. Structure.

Maranges sits at the southern edge of the Côte de Beaune, where the slope softens and the landscape opens into something more rugged and elemental. Long considered a quiet outlier, the appellation has gained serious momentum in recent years, with a new wave of growers revealing its potential for deeply expressive, mineral Pinot Noir. Here, clay-limestone soils with higher iron content shape wines of darker fruit, savoury depth and firmer structure - a contrast to the silkier, more polished communes further north.

Founded by Alexandre Aires and Pierre-Alexandre Soltana, Maison A&S channel their experience from leading Burgundy domaines into sites like this, working thoughtfully with partial whole bunch and gentle extraction to let the vineyard speak.

This Maranges leans into the appellation’s strengths: red cherry and wild strawberry layered with dried herbs, spice and a distinct ferrous, earthy note. There’s a quiet power - fine but present tannins, and a structural line that carries the wine long.

A natural fit for duck, game or mushroom-driven dishes.

Why we love it:

A compelling expression of Maranges - structured, mineral and increasingly one of Burgundy’s most exciting frontier appellations.
