Barbacan is a tiny, family-run estate in Valtellina led by Angelo Sega and his sons Luca and Matteo. Farming steep, terraced vineyards by hand and working organically (in conversion), they champion indigenous varieties with minimal cellar intervention.

‘Alpi Retiche’ blends Chiavennasca (local Nebbiolo) from high-altitude sites, delivering bright cherry, wild herbs and dried floral perfume. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and mountain-fresh acidity, it’s both savoury and elegant.

Perfect with braised beef, porcini dishes and excellent company.
